Preparing Students for a Successful Future

We, as a society, need to embrace education as the means to securing not only a bright future for our children, but for ourselves and our nation. Attitudes towards learning need to change. Where else in the world do students pride themselves on their ignorance? Too many young people today disdain intelligence, calling it UNcool.

Before tax dollars, new buildings, improved technology, or anything else can make a difference, society needs to make a difference. Families and communities need to impress on all children the value of a good education. The media needs to reinforce the value of making good choices, and planning one's future for success. Without a change in youth culture, other changes will have little or no effect on improving school success. Let's teach our children to value education as a gift they will benefit from all their lives, if only they will accept it.
