Programs that Work

It is a pity how much education is suffering during this recession. So many programs that could be beneficial to students are being cut. For example, studies show that students who play musical instruments or listen to complicated music, like classical music, early in life are better prepared for learning mathematics. Yet, music is one of the first programs cut in many districts.

I just read the following article on CNN which highlights a music program in New Orleans, that not only benefits students' confidence and grades, but keeps them focused, motivated and out of trouble. We need more programs like this.
